I did it! I finally made a web page to display my portfolio. Make sure you check it out at www.felicitygardner.com

Big end of year show coming up next Wednesday. Everything is coming to end at TAFE and it will be sad to leave, but exciting to get out into the big world.

So a few blog posts back in May, you can see some character designs I was doing with turtles and jellyfish. This illustration here is a finished page of the book. This was a real book that most of our class submitted work to, but unfortunately nobody got the job. I am still really happy with this work though and I think it will be a good portfolio piece.

Another assignment for Wayne, this time a coffee book cover. We had to choose a year and try to capture the events of that year in a cover illustration
This illustration was for Dee Huxley on our lighting project. We basically had to create and object/character and put it in different lighting conditions and points of view. This one is my afternoon image

This project was for Wayne Harris. We were to create a horror book cover illustration that showed a human morphing into another animal. I am really afraid of hammerhead sharks so this would be a total nightmare for me!

The Boat project.
Our class was given a project by Barry Dean to compose an illustration with narrative based on a boat.
The mediums I used were watercolour and pencil on paper. Digitally altered in photoshop by Barry Dean.

At the moment i am working on creating an EP cover for the artist Robert Portman. This is a work in progress as there are a lot of little touch ups still to do. This is the first time i have used water colour in a loose way. I enjoyed letting the medium do its own thing but I think I am still too controlling. For this piece I was inspired by the australian artist Cherry Hood.

Back in 2009 our class was given a project to create a lamp shade out of paper that reflects a suburb of our choice. Seeing as i travel reguraly to TAFE in Newtown, i choose Newtown as my suburb. My aim was to reflect the wacky town houses i pass in my walk to collage.

This was a project set by Barry Dean, to create an illustration of 'Old Mother Hubid' with a twist.

playing around in photoshop with some old work...creating fake street graffiti

Mysteries of Harris Burdick

This illustration was a project based on the sentence 'No matter how hard he tried, his feet couldn't touch the ground.' We had to study the style of Chris Van Allsburg's book The Mysteries of Harris Burdick and create a missing illustration. I was inspired by late night dog walkers who pass my house in the summer evenings.
