Baby and Toddler Show

Hello World,
Recently I had the opportunity to be involved in illustrating for an ad for the Baby and Toddler Show with the creative studio Silo:6. I was asked to do a collection of illustrations in the style of Kareena Zerefos, which I had a lot of fun with. To make the ad work as a kind of stop motion animation I had to scan my images 20 times during the process, so in the end you see the illustrations slowly appear on screen. You can check out the final product at www.silo6.com.au/featured/baby-toddler-show
Hope you like it!

Movember
hello world,So this is a poster that I made for the Miro Roundup, which is a blog created by my old class where we set ourselves creative challenges each week/fortnight. This weeks theme was the word hair. I created this illustration after seeing images on television of men with really extravagant facial hair and thought it could work as a Movember poster.
Head over to miroroundup.blogspot.com to check out the rest of the work submitted by my old illustration class mates!

Hello world,
So today i finally finished creating my bird collages! I can no longer find my floor or desk because everything is covered in paper. I am so happy that i finally finished them and now I am looking into selling them. Just went and priced around for frames this afternoon and I think they will look really nice in simple white frames. Hopefully I will get some interest, they are nice and soft so I think they could look really sweet in a nursery or a bedroom. It really was quite an adventure to get these completed. Whilst creating them my left hand was suffering from a chemical reaction to something unknown (not the collage glue), blistered up and I had to be rushed to hospital to be treated. They gave me 2 biopsies on my arm and heaps of drugs that make you super sleepy. But with stitches and regular nap breaks I finished the collages! TA-DAH! Now back to the job hunt...

Hello world! Lots of things have been happening and I am working busy as a bee and loving it. Sadly my trusty Mac has died on me and is in repairs which leaves me with getting back to traditional work for now. This latest creation speaks for itself... its a pigeon! Had a fun time experimenting with collage trying to get the right colours. My studio currently looks like a cyclone hit it. paper everywhere! Anyway hope you like it. Looking into selling some works and I think this little guy would look nice in a white frame. It will look even better with a little red sold dot next to it also (wink wink).

Happy New Years!

Nothing beats a stormy afternoon sketching and listening to music. Happy new year everyone! I have finished my course and now that all of the end of year festivities are over I am buckling down and working hard to a) find new part time employment and b) get myself out there in the illustration industry. Since the exhibition i have received a lot of good feedback from both teachers and those in industry which has been really great to hear. Now i have to be my own teacher and make sure i keep producing work everyday. This little sketch above is based on my childhood memories spent with my imaginary best friend Sally and is the first sketch for 2011. I think it will develop a lot more over time and be built up to colour. Hopefully i will work it into a series. Anyway back to the drawing board. Thanks to all of you out there for following me through my student years on this blog :)

So a few blog posts back in May, you can see some character designs I was doing with turtles and jellyfish. This illustration here is a finished page of the book. This was a real book that most of our class submitted work to, but unfortunately nobody got the job. I am still really happy with this work though and I think it will be a good portfolio piece.

At the moment i am working on creating an EP cover for the artist Robert Portman. This is a work in progress as there are a lot of little touch ups still to do. This is the first time i have used water colour in a loose way. I enjoyed letting the medium do its own thing but I think I am still too controlling. For this piece I was inspired by the australian artist Cherry Hood.
